We Will Never Forget...
FDNY * NYPD * FDNY EMS
World Trade Center * The Pentagon * Pennsylvania
Fireman's Prayer
When I am called to duty God
where ever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
what ever be its age.
Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late
or save an older person
from the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling
and to give the best in me
to guard my neighbor
and protect his property.
And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife.

The most stirring symbol of man's humanity towards man the I can think
of is a firetruck"
-Author Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
I just think God wanted somebody to lead the guys to heaven."
-Firefighter David Fullam, on the loss of Father Mychal Judge

Policeman's Prayer
When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
As I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.
Please give me understanding
With both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention
Until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment
In a rash or callous way,
But let me hold my patience
Let each man have his say.
Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.

"We are shaken, but we are not defeated. We stare adversity in the eye
and we move on."
-FDNY Commissioner, Thomas Von Essen
"This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our
resolve for justice and peace."
-President George W. Bush
"You go and see the firemen and all the rescue workers and they ask you
for your autograph. You feel like you should be asking they for their
autograpghs. They are the heros."
-NY Yankee Derek Jeter, on the recovery effort

Paramedic/EMT Prayer
As I perform my duty, Lord
Whatever be the call.
Help to guide and keep me safe
From dangers big and small.
I want to serve and do my best.
No matter what the scene
I pledge to keep my skills refined,
My judgment quick and keen.
This calling to give of myself
Most do not understand
But I stand all the time
To help me fellow man.
To have a chance to help a child
Restore his laugh with glee
A word of thanks I might not hear,
But knowing is enough for me.
The praise of men is fine for some
But I feel truly blessed,
That you, Oh Lord
Have chosen me to serve in the EMS.

"Life presents us as many opprotunitiesfor happiness as it does for tragedy."
-NYC Mayor, Rudolph Giuliani
"It's a time to show our colors, to show our stenghts, to show what holds us
together as a nation."

"Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom
came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts.
The victims wre in airplanes or in thier offices; secretaries, business
men and women, military and federal workers, moms and dads, friends
and neighbors.
These acts of mass murder were intended to frieghten our
nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed. Our country is
strong. A great people has been moved to defend a great nation.
Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of buildings, but they
cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts have shattered
steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.
Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature,
and we responded with the best of America, with the daring of our rescue
workers, with the caring for strangers, and the neighbors who came to
give blood and help in any way they could."
-President George W. Bush
